On Nov. 29, Bin Song is selected as one awardee of the project of “Theology of Joy and the Good Life” organized by the Yale Center for Faith and Culture and funded by John Templeton Foundation to co-write a chapter on Confucianism. The final submission of the chapter is before May 6th, 2019. For the chapter, Bin Song plans to present systematically his understanding of “The Joy of Kong and Yan” (孔顏樂處) with collaboration of another distinguished Confucian co-author.

On Nov. 27, Bin Song will teach “introduction to non-Western philosophy” for the first time in his career in the course “introduction to philosophy” at Washington College. Bin will use the article “The Best Books of World Philosophy, recommended by Bryan Van Norden” (https://fivebooks.com/best-books/world-philosophy-bryan-van-norden/) and the youtube video “Eastern Philosophy vs Western Philosophy” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eu3oIVuvbJg) as the course materials. For teaching non-Western philosophy, Bin Song will try to achieve a balance between increasing philosophical diversity and avoiding cultural relativism.

On Nov. 17, Bin Song was elected as the vice president of North American Paul Tillich Society (2019).

On Nov. 16, Bin Song presented his review on the book “Paul Tillich and Asian Religions” (De Gruyter, 2017) at the 2018 Annual Meeting of American Academy of Religion at Denver.
